Andrew Gregory Chafin, who was nicknamed “Big Country” and “The Sheriff” is an American pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB), he was born on June 17, 1990. He is known for playing for various MLB teams, which include; The Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics, and Detroit Tigers.

Andrew Chafin participated in the baseball team at Western Reserve High School in Collins, Ohio. In the final game of his high school career, he threw a no-hitter.

Chafin played college baseball for the Kent State Golden Flashes while attending Kent State University, and he earned the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year award in 2009 after pitching 35+2/3 innings with a 1.26 earned run average (ERA), eight saves, and 55 strikeouts.

He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2010, missing the 2010 campaign. He made a comeback in 2011 and pitched 89 innings with a 2.02 ERA and 105 strikeouts.
