Gigi Hadid debuts bangs at the MTV Movie Awards: awful or amazing?
NO GIGI NO NO NO. As many of you may know, I genuinely like Gigi Hadid. I think she’s got a great look and I think she’s one of the best of the current crop of “Insta-models.” She reminds me of a young Doutzen Kroes or Carolyn Murphy or Claudia Schiffer. But Gigi dramatically changed up her look for the MTV Movie Awards and now… it’s just painful.
There are inevitably comments along the lines of “why do you hate bangs so much?” This is a good example of why I hate bangs on most (but not all) women. Bangs completely changed her face in a really terrible way. They make her look older and they make her face look plastic/Botoxed/wider. There’s some debate about whether they’re clip-in bangs, and while I sincerely hope they are, I’m not convinced. The uneven nature of the bangs around the sides make me think that her hairstylist convinced her to actually cut her hair like this. As for the fashion… she wore a Versace power suit and it’s fine. I don’t love it or hate it.
While Gigi was on the red carpet at this event, she chatted with E! News about her Vogue editorial with her boyfriend Zayn Malik. I absolutely loved those photos – go here to see. And I do think Gigi’s E! interview was charming – she’s so obviously love-drunk. She told E!:
“I wish I could be on set with him every day. It doesn’t feel like work when he’s there. It was really fun. We had the best time. It was an adventure to go where we shot it….He is a very good model. He’s so naturally good looking. The problem is he can do anything, he can change his hair color a million times and looks great. He doesn’t need much help.”
And while fans love to see these two showcase their love for one another in front of the camera, the 20-year-old admits that she’s not sure you’ll see her in another one of his music videos after “Pillowtalk.” Gigi tells us, “Not sure about another. We got one done. I think it’s important for artists to change creativity throughout each music video. Maybe in a couple of years.”
Regardless, the beauty says “Pillowtalk” will always hold a special place in her heart. “It was fun for us. We just started dating. It’s cute to look back. We were into each other and flirting the whole day.”
I sort of want Gigi and Zayn to be together forever. Do you think that will happen? Probably not. I also get the feeling that Gigi’s close friends aren’t all on-board with her relationship, which is always difficult at that age. Still, let’s enjoy Gigi and Zayn while they last.
