Nambi Narayanan was born on December 12, 1941, to a Hindu Brahmin family in Nagercoil, India’s state of Travancore (present-day Kanyakumari District).
It was after graduating from Nagercoil’s DVD High Secondary School that he finished his studies. He graduated from Thiagarajar College of Engineering in Madurai with a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.
