Florence Pugh revisits the time she wore that pink dress in 2022 in a recent interview. Actress Florence is hailed as a “queen,” by many. Her Red Carpet looks are always getting heads turning, but her pink Valentino number turned out to be surprisingly controversial.
With acting credits in movies such as Little Women, Black Widow, and Midsommar it’s no wonder that Florence has built up a fanbase of millions. However, her wide-reaching fame comes with the downside of critics coming her way on the Red Carpet. The 27-year-old has stunned in all kinds of gowns at awards ceremonies and events. She’s sported iconic looks from Dior, Valentino, Carolina Herrera, and many more huge fashion houses.
Florence Pugh’s pink Valentino dress
In June 2022, actress Florence stepped out in a floor-length bright pink Valentino gown.
Attending the Valentino Haute Couture Fall/Winter 22/23 fashion show in Rome, Italy, the star stunned in the sheer dress.
At the time, she received backlash for her outfit choice and responded to negative comments with an open letter on Instagram.
In the July 10 post, she wrote:
“Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn’t be a commentary on it. Whether it be negative or positive, we all knew what we were doing. I was excited to wear it, not a wink of me was nervous. I wasn’t before, during or even now after.”
She included the words: “What’s more concerning is…. Why are you so scared of breasts? Small? Large? Left? Right? Only one? Maybe none? What. Is. So. Terrifying.”
Actress ‘loves color and being bold’
In an interview with J Crew in February 2022, Florence revealed what her style is all about.
She said that she grew up “loving the idea of being bold.”
The star was raised not to be afraid of color and added that her father inspired her bright fashion style.
She added: “I think I’m excited by shocking people, definitely…”
Nowadays, Florence is a Tiffany ambassador. She’s had jaws dropping with many of her Red Carpet looks including dresses from Miu Miu, Emilia Wickstead, Dior, Valentino, Prada, and Rodarte.
Florence Pugh talks body positivity
Speaking in an interview with Elle in August 2023, 27-year-old Florence shares her thoughts on body positivity.
She told Jodie Turner-Smith: “I speak the way I do about my body because I’m not trying to hide the cellulite on my thigh… I would much rather lay it all out.”
The actress revisited the bright pink sheer Valentino gown she wore in 2022.
She said: “When everything went down with the Valentino pink dress a year ago… it really wound people up. It’s the freedom that people are scared of; the fact I’m comfortable and happy…”
