Netflix Clark parents guide (Is Clark safe to watch with your kids?)

Bill Skarsgard stars as Clark Olofsson in the new Scandinavian television drama coming to Netflix this Thursday, May 5. Loosely based on the real Olofsson’s autobiography, this crazy true story is about the man for which the term “Stockholm syndrome” was eventually coined.

If you’re hoping to get a clearer sense of what content awaits you in the limited series’ six episodes, we’ve created this helpful parents guide to provide you with clarity regarding the season’s age rating and mature content including whether the season contains any nudity, drug use or violence that might not be suitable for younger audiences.

This series has as an age rating of TV-MA, an age rating that is assigned to programs intended to be viewed by mature, adult audiences and are not recommended for individuals under 17.

According to TV parental guidelines, programs that receive a rating of TV-MA often contain at least one of the following: crude indecent language, explicit sexual activity or graphic violence. In the case of Clark, the show’s TV-MA rating has just about all of the above.

Yes, the show does have nudity in it and many sex scenes. The character of Olofsson is considered a celebrity gangster and frequently has sex and trysts with various lovers throughout the show’s six episodes. Expect to see just about everything.

Yes, there is drug use, alcohol and smoking in Clark. Many of the characters engage in different drugs, drinking and partying.

Since this is a crime drama about a gangster and a famous (failed) bank robbery, you can expect to see violence and scenes that might be frightening to some viewers. However, even though this is a suspenseful show, it’s also goofy, lighthearted and offbeat at times, so it’s not quite as serious as some of the darker, grittier dramas available on the platform. Still, it’s not recommended for young viewers.

Clark release this Thursday, May 5, on Netflix.
