Who's who in the live-action series?

There’s no need to mark any more days off your calendar because One Piece is finally available to stream on Netflix! The complete first season of the live-action adaptation dropped on the streaming platform on Aug. 31, and everyone’s watching and talking about it.

Honestly, One Piece has been the talk of the town ever since it was ordered by Netflix back in January 2020. Everyone had been patiently waiting for the fantasy adventure series to make its way to the streaming platform, and now the wait is officially over.

Based on the best-selling Japanese manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy and his ragtag crew of misfits as they sail the seas in search of the legendary treasure, One Piece, and make all their hopes and dreams come true. If Luffy finds the One Piece, he can finally become the King of the Pirates. Of course, this won’t be an easy journey. With dangerous rivals also after the gold and the Marines hot on their trail, Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates will have to always be one step ahead to achieve their goals.

Are you curious to know who plays who in the live-action adaptation? If so, make sure to continue reading because we shared a cast and character guide right below.

One Piece

Monkey eventually becomes the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. He dreams of one day finding the One Piece and becoming the King of the Pirates. But in order to achieve his goal, he has to first assemble a crew and find a ship to sail.

Monkey is not your average teen boy. After eating a Devil Fruit called the Gum-Gum Fruit, he’s granted the special power of being able to stretch, bend, bounce, inflate, and twist his body. His superhuman abilities help him take on any enemy that crosses his path.

One Piece

Zoro is the most feared pirate hunter in the East Blue, and his goal is to become the world’s greatest swordsman. Although he’s initially reluctant to join Luffy’s Straw Hat crew, Zoro can’t help but be persuaded by the enthusiastic and fearlessly optimistic rubber-skinned teen.

One Piece

Before meeting Luffy, Nami had a strong hatred for Pirates. She was used to being on her own, having to steal from others to survive. Like Zoro, she didn’t initially want to join Luffy’s Straw Hat Pirates crew but was eventually persuaded. Her position in the crew is the navigator.

One Piece

Usopp was born and raised in Syrup Village. As a young boy, he would tell tall tales about pirate adventures and his stories just became more ridiculous as he got older. He befriends a young rich girl named Kaya and they would spend time together at her mansion. He even eventually meets Luffy, Nami, and Zoro and joins their pirate crew where he takes on the position of sniper. Zori is a great sharpshooter and he dreams of one day being a brave warrior of the sea like his father.

One Piece

Sanji is a gifted chef and he uses his cooking talents as a crew member of the Straw Hat Pirates. Before joining Luffy’s crew, Sanji was working under Chef Zeff as a sous chef at the sea-bound restaurant Baratie. Like Luffy, Nami, and Zoro, Sanji has a dream. He dreams of finding the All Blue, the only place in the world where fish from the North, South, East and West Blue seas can be found.

One Piece

Koby is a prisoner on Captain Alvida’s pirate ship when Luffy finds him. Luffy rescues Koby from captivity and then encourages him to pursue his dream of being a Marine although the Marines hate his kind (pirates).

One Piece

Alvida is captain of the Alvida Pirates and her ship Miss Love Duck. She’s obsessed with her looks, murderous, and willing to do anything to increase her bounty. You definitely don’t want to get on Alvida’s bad side because she’s quick to smash your head in with her large spiked iron club if you cross her.

One Piece

Shanks is the captain of the Red Hair Pirates. He’s who Luffy aspires to be. Luffy has looked up to Shanks since he was a young boy, and wanted to join his pirate crew when he was younger. Unfortunately for Luffy, Shanks refused to allow him to join his crew. This rejection lit the fire under Luffy and made him determined to start his own pirate crew.

One Piece

Captain “Axe Hand” Morgan is in charge of the 153rd marine base in Shells Town. He’s also the father of Helmeppo. He has a prosthetic steel jaw and a huge steel axe for a hand. He’s feared and not one to be messed with, but he doesn’t seem to scare Luffy.

One Piece

Helmeppo is a Marine officer and the spoiled son of Captain Morgan. Since his father is the captain, Helmeppo uses his father’s high status to threaten those who don’t listen to him with arrest and execution.

One Piece

Vice Admiral Garp is well-respected and considered the “Hero of the Marines.” He’s the person who captured Gold Roger, the former King of the Pirates. He doesn’t like pirates and strives to keep the world safe and protected from them.

One Piece

Bogard is a Marine officer and Vice Admiral Garp’s right-hand man.

One Piece

Buggy the Clown is the egotistical captain of the Buggy Pirates. He’s very sensitive about his red nose and would hurt anyone who talks about it. Like Luffy and many other pirates, Buggy wants to find the One Piece and become King of the Pirates. After eating the Chop-Chop fruit, he gained the ability to split his body into pieces and control them however he wishes.

One Piece

Arlong is the cold-blooded and hot-tempered captain of the Arlong Pirates.

One Piece

Mihawk holds the title of the world’s greatest swordsman. Obviously, this puts him and Zoro automatically at odds.
